SCOTTSDALE - A movie that producers tout as the sequel to
the 2006 Oprah Winfrey-endorsed motivational book and film The
Secret debuts Wednesday in Scottsdale.
"The Opus picks up where The Secret left
off," said Tim Ralston, publicist and partner of The
Opus.
The documentary-style film takes viewers on a journey with
a young musician in the early 1930s as he searches for his
greatest work, his opus. Interviews and commentary by motivational
speakers appear throughout the film.
"The speakers give input on how to see what you're
going for and planning your actions," Ralston said. "It's
about not letting obstacles stand in your way."
The premiere at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing
Arts will be the first public showing of The Opus.
Several speakers from the film will be there to talk with
the audience during a seminar before the showing.
Promoters for The Opus rented the Center's Virginia
G. Piper Theatre for the premiere. Ralston said he hopes
they fill the theatre's 838 seats. The base rental rate for
the theatre is $1,200 per day.
The film attempts to conclude the motivational message of
the 2006 book and subsequent film, The Secret,
the producers say.
The Secret received worldwide acclaim from some
and criticism from others.
The Secret purports to teach the use of nature's "laws
of attraction" to achieve conscious results from subconscious
positive thinking.
"The Secret talks
about getting stuff, but The
Opus talks about getting what you want and what you'll
get back from it," Ralston said. The Opus,
he said, "teaches vision, plan and performance. It's
about your life legacy."
The Opus was produced
by Doug Vermeeren, a motivational speaker and actor from
Calvary, Canada.
The film and an associated Web site is not endorsed by the
makers of The Secret, but Ralston said he was inspired
by The Secret 's message.
Ralston said he partnered with Vermeeren on The Opus project
after watching The Secret eight months ago. He
put together a vision board online as suggested in The
Secret, which says to create images of things you want
out of life.
Vermeeren saw Ralston's vision board online and invited
him to join The Opus project.
Ralston, who lives in Scottsdale,
created The
Vision Board site, where users can create online
vision boards for $29.95 a year.
Ralston said he hopes The
Opus receives as much
attention as The Secret.
He has already talked to
people representing Tyra Banks and Oprah Winfrey, Ralston
said, adding that he is confident the talk show diva will
be interested once The Opus takes
hold.
"It's on my vision board," he
said, noting that he "photo-shopped" himself into
a picture on Oprah's couch on her studio set.

In the tradition of " The
Secret ", the newest inspirational flick highlighting
the Law of Attraction had its world premiere on 5/28/08
in Scottsdale AZ. "The Opus", hyped as the sequel to "The
Secret", follows in form, but takes the viewer to a deeper
look at using the law of attraction to create your desires.
As Peggy O'Neil puts
it in the film, "The Opus is a composer's greatest work.
The Opus is about becoming the most amazing, magnificent,
extraordinary human beings that we were meant to be". In
the words of Mark Victor Hanson "You and I are here to do
magnificent, magnanimous things. You're here to create, contribute
and to connect at a high velocity", and doing that is what
will bring fulfillment into your life.
"The Opus" unfolds the story of a life changing encounter
with a violinist and a young boy who is mesmerized by his
playing. He is given a notepad and with these few words of
wisdom; "Your Opus isn't what you do. It will be the legacy
of what you become" we follow this boy's journey of challenges
as he realizes his Opus.
Weaved within the story, are inspirational insights delivered
by some familiar faces from "The Secret" like Jack Canfield,
Bob Doyle, Dr. John Demartini, and Marcia Shimoff, expressing
the message that you are the composer of your life.
Many new impressive people
impart their wisdom as well, like Peggy O'Neil who is a "small
person", Frank Maguire
who is Fed Ex Co-founder, Ed Rush who is a Fighter Pilot,
and Doug Vermeeren the films creator.
In a flowing and motivational series of interview clips
you are moved by the message that the legacy of what you
become matters, and makes a difference in how your life flows.
The most important ingredient in realizing your "Opus" is
getting in touch with your passion, believing in yourself,
and doing something about it.
Taking the information in "The Secret" to the next level,
the importance of creating a plan of action, and just getting
started, is greatly emphasized, as well as the role of flexibility
and following the bread crumb trail of opportunity and intuition.
Being a psychic
reader assisting those on their spiritual
journey, in the field of personal
development and coaching people on sharpening
their life
skills for over 25 years I know that it is the "acting
on it" part that loses most people. When you are clear
on what you desire, and take those first steps toward it,
you are your most vulnerable to disappointment. Moving
beyond disappointment and handling challenges is a key
part of realizing your Opus.
One of the most fascinating points brought out in the film
was the influence emotion plays in creating your Opus. Did
you know that the Heart
Math Institute has discovered the energy field around
your heart is fives times greater than the one around your
brain? Working with a vision that comes from the heart, and
clarifying it with real intention, rather than obligation
and responsibility, can make all the difference in the world.
While although the content, flow and delivery of this film
feels like "The Secret" Part 2, don't skip it thinking you
have seen and heard it all before. The fresh angle on age
old spiritual philosophies is invigorating and well worth
it.
You can get your own copy of " The
Opus " now on DVD and start to explore your personal
pursuit of your own Opus. For those of you who have watched "The
Secret" over and over again to keep you inspired, you will
like adding this to your repertoire.

effective insights on achieving your goals and dreams, but leaves you with the
desire to discover your legacy... your Opus.
"The Opus shares practical action steps not revealed in The Secret says
Tim Ralston, co-creator of the Motivation & a Movie Series. This inspired
us to create a unique event to include a seminar where the actual characters
come off the screen to interact live with the audience, making the message of
the movie even more powerful!
For the first time we have a film and seminar that delivers, instead of just
playing around with abstract ideas. The event will be a powerful realistic invitation
to action. The Opus & seminar will be practical, informative, entertaining,
powerful and effective." Says Ralston.
The Opus Experts Include: Jack Canfield (Chicken Soup for the Soul, The Success
Principle), Dr. John Demartini (The Riches Within), Dr Joe Vitale (The Attractor
